The accident took place around 12:35 pm. The Abbotsford Police were at the scene, putting together the events that took place. Interviewed at the preliminary stages of the investigation, Police Sergeant Jason Burrows described the events that took place. “According to witness information, a vehicle ran a red light while going westbound, colliding with another vehicle turning right onto Old Yale.”

It was a gold Chevrolet sedan that had gone through a red light, hitting a black Acura SUV which was making a right turn onto Old Yale. The SUV spun onto the sidewalk coming to rest against a small slope next to the road. The driver of the SUV was able to walk away from the accident, apparently unharmed.

The impact of the collision caused the compact Chevrolet sedan to hit the median and flip over completely, coming to rest, upright, on the opposite side of the street. The Abbotsford Fire Department assisted with extricating the driver of the sedan who was sent to the hospital in an ambulance with undisclosed injuries.

Only the two drivers were involved in the accident. The Abbotsford Police called out traffic analysts to assist in their investigation, closing Old Yale Road for close to four hours.
