Abbotsford News: Worker Crushed At Mutual Materials

Submitted. At 4:39 PM. On Tuesday, January 22, 2013, the Abbotsford Fire Rescue Service (AFRS) responded to a report of an industrial accident at Mutual Materials, 2979 McCallum Road. A production worker had been crushed between two pieces of machinery.

On arrival AFRS crews found that the worker was no longer trapped but was suffering from serious injuries. AFRS fire crews assisted BC Ambulance Paramedics with patient care and set up a landing zone for patient transport by helicopter.

The male patient was medevac’d by BCAS HeliJet to Royal Columbian Hospital. His condition is unknown at this time.

Two AFRS engines and a total of 9 firefighters responded to the incident. APD and WorkSafe
B.C. were also on the scene.
