Abbotsford Olympians Start 2013 In Great Shape

The Abbotsford Olympians were in competition at the Vancouver Aquatic Center over the weekend of January 18-19-20. The meet hosted 15 team teams from the Greater Vancouver Area and Washington State. The entire team swam great, finishing ninth overall and posting 92% best times and qualifying new standards at all three provincial tiers – “A” – “AA” – “AAA”. The team also broke 29 club records.

James Lee led the way, breaking eight club records and qualifying his first “AAA” standard in the 100 butterfly in a 1:09.02 and earned Bronze in the 50 Fly. The “AAA” standard, is the standard a swimmer must achieve to be able to compete against the best swimmers in the Province of British Colimbia. Also attaining new standards, Katie Charest qualified here first “AA” standard in the 50 Freestyle and Tobyn Smith qualified a second “AA” standard in the 200 Backstroke, also breaking a club record and earning the bronze medal.

McKenna Postles, Peyton Smith and Alex Smith all added “A” times to their list of accomplishments.

Katie Charest, McKenna Postles and Hannah Weinkauf were all club record breakers.

The Abbotsfod Olympians contiued to show a very quick rate of improvement as individuals and as a team. As we prepare for the Provincial championship season, we look forward to some great results.
