Abbotsford Students Score 10 Medals At BC Skills

Submitted. It was an invasion of skilled trades and technical students at the annual Skills BC Competitions held Wednesday at Tradex in Abbotsford. More than 400 students from schools and post-secondary institutions around the province participated in 40 separate skills competitions. And Abbotsford students once again provided some strong results.

A total of eight medals were won by secondary students from Abbotsford, and another two in junior skills categories. The five Gold medalists from Abbotsford School District in this completion will move on to the National Skills Canada competitions in Toronto June 4-7th.

Gold: Welding – Robert Bateman Secondary: Dawson Procee

Silver: Architectural CAD – Robert Bateman Secondary: Santiago Paredes Mayorga

Silver: Carpentry – WJ Mouat Secondary: Alvin Bergen

Silver: Electrical Wiring – WJ Mouat Secondary : Travis Klassen

Bronze: Automotive Service – Robert Bateman Secondary: Jordan Boyes

Bronze: Hairstyling – Rick Hansen Secondary: Jade Lui

Gold: Abbotsford Middle – Jessi Langager, Joshua Langager

Spaghetti Bridge:
Silver: Abbotsford Middle – Oleg Moskvin, John McRoberts

Almost every Grade 10 student from the district along with many grade 11 and 12 students visited the site during the day, which included a trade and information show featuring training and employment displays.
