North Fraser Valley…From Deroche east to Mount Woodside, is an area brimming with beautiful gardens and home to the studios of amazing artists and artisans. With your ACES Art & The Garden passport, take a self-guided tour; get to see behind the scenes as artists show their work in studio and get tips and tricks from some the valley’s most unique and avid gardeners. Stops on the tour include:

Elizabeth & Marco – A perennial favourite, Marco and Liz’s bountiful vegetable garden will be sure to impress. Learn some tips from someone who grew up in the gardens of Italy… a lifetime gardener with a lifetime of knowledge. You will be greeted with arms wide open by this hospitable couple who practice and teach food security and self sustainability.

Jo-Anne & Victor – So much to see and learn at this stop. Home to Hartley Glass & Jewelry Design, Jo-Anne Hartley (winner of 2014 Mission Muse Award – Visual Arts) creates unique copper jewelry, fused glass and acrylic paintings in her straw bale studio beautifully designed and built by Victor. Want to learn about Aquaponics? Here you can see a self-contained ecosystem at work in their glass and beam greenhouse.

Pete & Cyndi – Pete and Cyndi are first generation off the farm folk who have worked hard to get back to the land.  Their 5 acre farm grows Christmas trees and turkeys and is home to Pete’s portable saw mill. A series of trails have been naturally enhanced for wild edibles and medicinals.  Guided walk and talks will be available all day.

Beth & Roger – Member of Agassiz Monday Night Painters, artist Beth McCreary will have a gallery of her water colours for you to delight in as you take a walk through her unique garden. Stone pathways lead you on your tour of this creative backyard surrounded by the beauty of the Elbow Creek forest.
