ACS Posts Photos, Video Of Rally

An outpouring of support was displayed by citizens of Abbotsford at a community rally on February 24th, 2014 in support of those without homes. The event was organized by 5 residents in response to the decision by Abbotsford Council to deny the proposed 20 unit supportive housing project for homeless men.

Abbotsford Community Services has collected some photos and a video of the ‘Speaking Up With Abbotsford Homeless rally‘ held on February 24th outside City Hall in Abbotsford.

Councillors Patricia Ross, Moe Gill and Henry Braun were among the 583 who signed the petition asking City Council to reconsider the Supportive Housing Project which would have helped 20 men get off the street of downtown Abbotsford.

A strong lobbying effort by downtown merchants and landowners convinced Mayor Bruce Banman to vote against the majority of council and defeat the proposal.
