Ammonia Leak At B.C. Frozen Foods

Nobody was injured and the RCMP says there should be no concern for environmental impact or any extenuating exposure after an ammonia leak at B.C. Frozen Foods in Mission around 3 a.m. Friday.

The leak shut down Lougheed Highway from the junction with Highway 11 to Manson Street, as well as a nearby boat launch on the Fraser River according to the CBC [Lougheed Highway 7 reopened in Mission following ammonia leak].

NEWS1130 reported that hazmat teams were called in from Abbotsford to deal with the leak which also caused the closure the CP Rail line along the Fraser River in Mission, and the river itself [Gas leak in Mission contained].

The Abbotsford News reported that the Coast Guard called in to stop fishing between the Mission Bridge and north of Hatzic and the CP rail tracks have been closed [Ammonia leak in Mission shuts down highway].
