Submitted. Through investigation conducted at scene by both Abbotsford Fire Rescue Service (AFRS) and the Abbotsford Police Department’s Major Crime Unit the agencies can now confirm that the fire at Maan Farms is considered arson.
The Abbotsford Police Department’s Major Crime Unit is appealing to any individuals who may have witnessed any suspicious activity near the property on or near Monday July 14th, 2014.

Major Crimes Unit Now Involved In Maan Farms Fire
On Monday, July 14th at 12:50 am the Abbotsford Police Department along with Abbotsford Fire Rescue Service (AFRS) attended to a reported structure fire in the 700 block of McKenzie Road. Upon arrival both police and fire crews located the Mann Farms Market to be engulfed with flames.
At this time, the Abbotsford Police Department’s Major Crime Unit is working in partnership with the AFRS fire investigators to determine the cause of the fire.

Maan Farms Gutted By Suspicious Fire
Release. At 00:53 am on July 14, Abbotsford Fire Rescue
Services (ARFS) responded to a report of a structure fire at 790 McKenzie Road,
location of Mann Farms operations.
Upon arrival, fire crews found the Mann Farms Market building with heavy fire through
the roof of the structure. It took crews a number of hours to get the fire under control.
Crews are still on scene and are focused on ensuring the fire is out. The market building
has sustained extensive damage, and the total cost of damages is unknown at this time.
A fire investigator is currently on scene. The cause of the fire is unknown, but is being
treated as suspicious.
Sixty AFRS staff and 16 units responded to this incident. One AFRS staff member was
transported to Abbotsford Regional Hospital for possible heat related illness and was
later released.

CBC News is reporting that at fire, which officials are describing as suspicious’, has gutted a barn at Maan Farms at the corner of Vye Rd. and MacKenzie road.
The report says that the fie started at around one am last night. Crews remain on scene this morning.
