ATM Targeted In Break And Enter

By November 4, 2013Crime

Submitted. Yesterday morning at 7:15 am the Abbotsford Police received a report of an alarm at a restaurant in the 33800 block of Essendene Ave.

Upon arrival, police noted that a glass front entrance panel had been removed from its frame, allowing access to the building. Once inside the business, it became apparent to police that an ATM machine was the target of the theft. Various damage was noted to the building, resulting in a total loss of approx. $10,000.

Witnesses reported observing a white panel van parked outside of the business and sparks coming from within the business in close proximity to the ATM. Unfortunately, witnesses did not report these observations until after police were already on scene. The Abbotsford Police Patrol Division is currently investigating this incident with the assistance of the Forensic Identification Section.

The APD wishes to remind all citizens to report suspicious activity, particularly in and around homes and businesses within our community.
