Baseball is one of Abbotsford`s favourite summer pastimes and it is about to start up for the 2013 season. For those who haven`t yet registered, online registration is still available.

The Abbotsford Minor Fastball Association is a non-profit organization affiliated with Softball BC and Softball Canada. It was founded to organize and operate local softball programs at varying levels of competition for both boys and girls, and is committed to player and skill development through facilitating a fun and safe environment for all participants.

President`s Message
Hello and welcome to another fun filled year of softball with the Abbotsford Minor Softball Association. Welcome back to past players and their families and a special welcome to all new players and their families. I hope you enjoy the upcoming season. We have worked very hard over the course of the last few years to promote our association as one of the top tier softball programs in the Lower Mainland of British Columbia, and are excited to take the next step in the evolution of our program with the launch of this new website. It’s shaping up to be a great year for the AMFA. See you on the field.

The LEARN TO PLAY program is a revolutionary way of introducing the sport of Softball to children. The overall approach is to facilitate activities that foster the involvement of ALL players, including those with both high and low skill levels. Each child that participates will experience excitement, enjoyment, and success. Activities and lead-up games are patterned after informal playground games that promise an hour of FUN and LOTS OF ACTION. The goal is that all participants go home at the end of the day happy and tired, while improving their fitness level and enjoyment of sport.

The AMFA House (or C Division) program is great platform for athletes who enjoy both the competitive and SOCIAL aspects of softball. Focusing on further developing fundamental skills through positive instruction and encouragement, the program is best suited for girls who are WILLING TO LEARN and WANT TO HAVE FUN, but do not necessarily want the high stress and pressure that goes along with elite level competition. While the practice and game schedules are not as intense as they are in the rep program, the overall experience is just as positive and rewarding.

The OUTLAWS REP program is committed to facilitating ELITE LEVEL skill development in a fun, safe, and COMPETITIVE environment. For many athletes, playing on a rep team can be an exciting and rewarding experience. Players are selected on a tryout basis, and expected to maintain a HIGH LEVEL OF COMMITMENT to softball; practicing multiple times per week during the off season and playing in tournaments on weekends during the season. The overall goal is to provide a well structured program that teaches athletes core values and challenges them to elevate their game to the next level.

The SENIOR FASTBALL program offers COMPETITION and COMRADERY for both men and women who love the sport too much to let it go after their minor days are over. Although not officially governed by the AMFA, the senior program works in conjunction with Minor Softball to support and promote the game of softball at the local level, encouraging participation and involvement within the community. If you are interested in getting involved with Senior Fastball or are looking for a team to play for, please contact Harv Weins.
