Crew Attends Grass Fire

Submitted. his morning, Abbotsford Fire Rescue Service (AFRS) responded a grass fire in the area of Riverside and Page Roads. Rail workers were repairing a section of train track in the area when sparks from a grinder
ignited brush at the site of the tracks.

Rail workers were able to contain the fire, with a 1,500
gallon tanker truck and portable pump, until AFRS arrived on the scene.

AFRS crews extinguished the remaining grass and brush that was on fire, as well as the railway
ties and other garbage that had been disposed of along the tracks that had ignited.

A crew from Firehall 7 attended with the four-wheel-drive, wild land truck.
