The Abbotsford School District’s amended budget reflects an increase in operating revenue of almost $4.1 million, of which $3.7 million is an increase in funding from the Ministry of Education.
The increase in the Ministry’s grant is due to a higher student enrolment, unique student needs, allocation of holdback and other funding allocation changes.
Allocations to schools have increased by $5.5 million; along with an increase of $2 million, primarily due to a rise in the allocation of Teacher Assistants to schools, and benefit changes.
In the end, the district’s appropriation from accumulated surpluses is $4.4 million to offset additional expenditures.
Final total for this year’s amended budget is $191.5 million.
