By Anne Russell. The world is changing rapidly. Does the new global economy have you wondering about job and career strategies? Is it better to be a generalist than a specialist these days?

Dr. Amandeep Sandhu, UFV’S BC Regional Chair in Canada-India Business & Economic Development, will address these and other questions as part of a lecture titled The Great Economic Transformation of the 21st Century: How the globalization of service jobs will determine your career and life.

Sandhu will speak as part of the UFV Research Lecture series at 5 pm on Wed, April 9, in room B101 (lecture theatre) on the UFV Abbotsford campus. Admission is free and the public is welcome.

Sandhu will talk about the current job market and how to prepare for the future during this time of major economic change.

According to Sandhu the future world economy is increasingly uncertain. “My lecture will focus on the reasons why I advise a move away from intensive and early specialization in favour of a broader palette of transferrable skills.

“I will emphasize skills that will be of value to students in the globalized economy, and will talk about the problems facing students in the post-global financial crisis world and some of the strategies they can use for future planning.”

Refreshments will be served and there is an opportunity to network and meet Dr. Sandhu.
