From Abbotsford Community Services.
It began last Wednesday (Feb.19th) and by the end of the week a ‘Peaceful Protest Rally’ had organized to say: Enough is Enough. It began in response to council’s decision to defeat the ACS proposal for Supportive Housing.
Today at noon some 200 concerned residents braved the cold and blowing snow to show their support for our homeless persons in Abbotsford and to show appreciation for the work Abbotsford Community Services does every day. Following a few brief talks by Councilor Henry Braun and event organizer Elsie Neufeld a drumming circle played during a ceremony inviting people to sign a canvas declaring their intent to continue to support the homeless and to dignify all persons. As one community supporter (Kate) commented “something greater than us is at work here.”
