Submitted. Race month is here as Abbotsford hosts its seventh annual Envision Financial Run for Water. On Sunday May 25, thousands of runners will hit the streets of Abbotsford and race distances of 5km, 10km, 21 km (half marathon), and 42 km (full marathon). An additional twenty select ultra marathon runners will meet the day prior and run over 50 km from Chilliwack to Abbotsford, raising a minimum of $1,500 each for clean water projects in Ethiopia.

Growing each year in exposure and impact, Envision Financial Run for Water is a Boston Marathon qualifying race. In addition to its elite status as a competitive running event, Run for Water offers fun for the whole family. This family friendly event encourages runners of all ages to participate in the 5km or 10km run/walk around the beautiful trails of Mill Lake Park.

To participate in Envision Financial Run for Water, register online before May 21. If you aren’t able to race but would still like to get involved, Run for Water is always looking for vibrant volunteers to register by clicking here.

One hundreds percent of donations and fundraising go directly to Run for Water’s charity partner, HOPE International Development Agency. This year’s project is to bring water to a cluster of villages in Southern Ethiopia.

Yella, Ghosha and Gezzesso have a combined population of approximately 18,000 people and girls currently walk two hours to a contaminated water source. The project will bring water from the nearest mountain spring to multiple water points by laying fifteen kilometres of pipe. The cost of the project equals roughly twenty dollars per person in Yella, Ghosha and Gezzesso, so join the cause and make a help splash in Ethiopia.
