From AAHA. Baseball BC is hosting a fun filled weekend on February 7th & 8th that will consist of a variety of activities for girls.   Personal development and team building, including self-esteem, confidence, mental training & social unity will be the events main focus.

Some scheduled happenings throughout the weekend to note are: team building activities, beginner umpire (Level 1) & coach (NCCP Initiation) clinics, indoor practice (skill development) and more…  Clinics will also be open to parents; however, fees to participating athletes only will be sponsored by Baseball BC & the BC Baseball Umpires Assoc. (standard rates will apply to all others).

Female Personal Development Weekend

When?:

  • Saturday, February 7, 2015 to
  • Sunday, February 8, 2015

Baseball BC & the Female Selects Committee members are excited to announce the 1st ever official

Location:  Abbotsford, BC

  • Development practices will take place in the gym(s) at Abbotsford Senior Secondary School which is at 33355 Bevan Avenue in Abbotsford, BC
  • Team Building event will take place at Rhonda Pauls house in Abbotsford near the high school; address to be supplied to attendees at the event

Schedule:  February 7th and 8th, 2015

Saturday 10am-4pm:

10am-12pm – NCCP & Skill Development

12pm-1pm – Lunch

1pm-2pm – Personal Development Presentation/Discussion

2pm-4pm – NCCP & Skill Development

4pm-6pm – Break

6pm-9pm – Team Building Activity

Sunday 9am-4pm:

9am-12pm – Umpire Rules & Skill Development

12pm-1pm – Lunch

1pm-4pm – Umpire Rules & Skill Development

NCCP & Skill Development:  Abbotsford Senior Secondary School Gym

Athletes will achieve NCCP Initiation clinic training while having fun & developing baseball skills

  • We feel strongly that some basic NCCP training will greatly benefit athletes by giving them knowledgeable advantages over other players…Also, it’s FREE to all participating athletes (costs paid for by Baseball BC); parents are encouraged to be trained at a regular cost of $50.
  • NCCP is the national standard in coach training & certification.Initiation is the 1stlevel of training; it has 2 parts involving an on-line module and the clinic.The on-line module is done on Baseball Canada’s NCCP site here http://nccp.baseball.ca/.
  • If not already registered, one will need to register by clicking the “Register Now” button on the left side of the page; if already registered, proceed by entering Username & Password on top left of page.The on-line Initiation module is offered after registering or by logging into your profile.The on-line module also has a cost of $37.45; however, Baseball BC will make arrangements to cover this cost for players only as well… (Full day attendance is required for NCCP training status)
  • While being Initiation trained, players will be practicing fun filled skill development activities & therefore, athletes will require all practice gear including non-marking running shoes, shorts/sweat pants, T-shirt/hoody/sweat jacket, baseball glove & other position specific equipment, etc…

Our initiative here is to have an informative day in a fun practice environment encouraging personal development & team building while concluding the day with official coach training

Lunch:  Eating on site is suggested…

All athletes & participants, including staff/coaches/volunteers are on their own for lunches; in other words, the committee & its members thought it best to exclude all lunch expenses…

Personal Development Presentation/Discussion:  Abbotsford Senior Secondary School Classroom

A one hour long session showing video’s/pictures/etc… and talking about program vision/values and developing personal skills such as confidence, excellence, goals, dreams, etc…

Team Building Activity: Rhonda Pauls house

Casual evening focussed on making friends containing fun interactive activities…

  • Activities like skit/interviews (funny props are encouraged, such as clothing articles, etc…)
  • Pizza & drinks will be supplied for the players by Baseball BC
    • Other appropriate eatable dinner & party items are optional to bring by participants
  • No parents at this event please; they are encouraged to go to a nearby restaurant, casino, cinema, shopping mall, etc…

Umpire Rules & Skill Development:  Abbotsford Senior Secondary School Gym

Athletes will achieve Umpire Certification while having fun & developing baseball skills

  • We feel strongly that the understanding baseball rules will greatly benefit athletes by giving them knowledgeable advantages over other players…Also, it’s FREE for all participating athletes (costs paid for by the BC Baseball Umpires Association);parents are encouraged to be trained at regular cost…
  • All participants need also to preregister with the BCBUA at
    • If renewing a previous membership (2014. 2013, etc…)
      • Sign in using your member log in
      • Review your information & register for 2015
      • Select the BC Girls Selects clinic (Feb. 7/8) & register
    • If a new member
      • Click on registration
      • Click on clinic pre-registration (make sure DOB is correct)
      • Follow the instructions shown
      • Click on the BC Girls Selects clinic (Feb. 7/8)

  • Payment method: players are free so select CHECK pending as payment option (parents would pay via PayPal or credit card…)
