At 4:15 P.M. on Friday, May 10, 2013, the Abbotsford Fire Rescue Service (AFRS) responded to a report of a young girl trapped in a tree at 32920 Mill Lake Road.

Fire crews arrived to find that a 12 year old girl was trapped in a tree about 3 meters from the ground. The firefighters also noticed that there was a family of raccoons in the tree. The girl was frightened because every time that she attempted to climb down from the tree, the raccoons would hiss and growl at her!

The AFRS Fire Crew approached the tree and placed a ladder against it. The raccoons then scurried up to the top of the tree. Firefighters were then able to help the girl climb down the ladder and fortunately she was uninjured.

One AFRS engine with 4 firefighters attended the incident.
