Submitted. Gallery 7 Theatre will be holding open auditions for its June production of L.M. Montgomery’s classic Canadian tale, Anne (of Green Gables), adapted for the stage by Paul Ledoux on Wednesday, April 9 at 6:30 PM at the MEI Auditorium, 4081 Clearbrook Road, Abbotsford. The audition is open to all male and female performers ages 16 and up. Those interested in working behind the scenes are also invited to attend.
The girl with the fiery red hair and an imagination that knows no bounds comes to vibrant life onstage as we celebrate a classic Canadian tale. Matthew and Marilla want to adopt a boy to help with the farm chores. Instead, they get the precocious Anne…with an “e”. Uninhibited by her surroundings, Anne adapts to her new life, often locking heads with the austere Marilla, making new friends, and competing with her rival, Gilbert Blythe. Through the course of time, Anne transforms in to a refined young woman in this charming story about finding your way.
Gallery 7’s production will feature 6 female and 2 male performers. “What better way to end our 2013/2014 Spice of Life season than with this Canadian classic?” says Gallery 7 Theatre’s artistic director, Ken Hildebrandt. “This is a fun and theatrical adaptation of the beloved
L.M. Montgomery story and will be a perfect way for audiences to celebrate the arrival of the summer season.”
Directing Anne will be Megan Mackenzie. Mackenzie recently directed Gallery 7’s hit production of The Outsiders and has appeared on-stage in productions of Quiet in the Land and The Hiding Place for the company.
Anne will run June 13 & 14, 19 – 21, 26 – 28 at 7:30 PM with discount matinees on June 14, 21 & 28 at 2:00 PM at the MEI Auditorium, 4081 Clearbrook Road, Abbotsford. Rehearsals will commence April 14, and will be held on Monday, Wednesday and Thursday evenings from 6 to 10PM. Two Saturday rehearsals will also be scheduled. All rehearsals and performances will be held at the MEI Auditorium, 4081 Clearbrook Road, Abbotsford.
