Girls Just Wanna Have Fun At The Museum!

By October 29, 2013Arts/Culture

Submitted. Girls simply never outgrow their appetite for good fun…and so they shouldn’t! That’s why the girls at The Reach Gallery Museum Abbotsford invented a Girls Night @The Museum fundraiser four years ago, and this year it “goes vintage” on Friday, November 1, 2013 from 7 to 10pm.

“It’s all about wine, women, song, food, shopping, playing, and yes, raising dollars for creative family learning programs at The Reach. It is a fun, and definitely very social, vintage-style event for women to connect with and support each other, and a host of talented artists and designers, in our amazing art gallery/museum setting,” says Ingrid Epp, Director of Development, The Reach Gallery Museum Abbotsford.

While the Milestone’s team will tantalize the ladies with delectable signature appetizers and desserts, the local Pilkey Sisters will tickle their ears with a unique, tightly-blended three-part harmony of favorite nostalgic numbers. Born in the Fraser Valley, the Pilkey Sisters have been acting, singing jazz, pop, R&B, gospel and country, and laughing together for all of their young lives. They may have captivated you at corporate or community events, at a Vancouver Canadians baseball game or during Vancouver International Airport’s Take-Off Fridays.

Then it’s off to engage with artists, designers and food vendors in the great hall. Women won’t need an excuse like Christmas being just around the corner to shop for the quality hand-crafted artistic clothing, vintage jewellery and glass beads, that new hat, a Paverpol sculpture, custom wood gifts, pottery or a vintage-themed arts keepsake, not to mention the fabulous silent auction packages. Oh, and they will certainly try their hand at making beautiful wine charms and traditional European Christmas straw stars, learn how to create that stunning seasonal décor piece from Brenda Falk of Tanglebank Gardens, catch decorating tips from the Little Whitehouse gals and snap a photo with popular Joe, the wooden tattooed sailor stationed at The Navy exhibition. Between the vintage buzz and frivolity, there is plenty of time to taste Karla’s SpecialTeas, Vitala Foods’ bocconcini cheese appies and the specialty fare from Thrifty Foods.

Girls Night @The Museum Goes Vintage sponsored by Thrifty Foods with support from Milestone’s Grill + Bar and Rex A. Leonard Ltd., is about all of you ladies who value the importance of friendship and who make art and heritage a vital part of your life. Tickets to the November 1st event are: $30 per Reach friend or $35 for future friend. Purchase online www.thereach.ca, call 604-864-8087 or visit The Reach at 32388 Veterans Way in Abbotsford.

The Reach is a registered charity and “Class A’ facility in the Fraser Valley that is operated by a small staff team with the assistance of a Board of Directors and 100+ fabulous volunteers. With your support, it will continue to showcase the best in the visual arts by local and international artists, preserve and share the stories of our rich and diverse cultural heritage, provide quality education programming and offer FREE admission to exhibitions and a wide variety of other cultural events.
