Hwy 1 Westbound Closure – Anticipated Opening At 4 pm

BC RCMP Fraser Valley Traffic Services expects that Highway 1 westbound between Mount Lehman and the 264th street exit will be re-opened at approximately 4 pm today.

“At this time police suspect mechanical failure was the cause of this crash, which has tragically killed the male driver of the dump truck,” says Corporal Robert McDonald, spokesperson for BC RCMP Traffic Services. “It’s extremely fortunate only one vehicle was involved.”

He notes as the investigation is still ongoing, he is unable to release any further information at this time.

Hwy 1 Westbound Closed Between Mt. Lehman And 264th
BC RCMP Fraser Valley Traffic Services is on scene at a fatal single vehicle crash involving a dump truck with trailer. The crash occurred earlier this morning, just before the 264th Street off-ramp. Gravel being transported by the trailer has spread across the highway.

All Highway 1 westbound traffic is expected to be shut down for several hours in this area, and is being diverted at the Mount Lehman road exit. Corporal Robert McDonald will be at scene for any media interviews until 12 noon today.
