“Insight Out” by Kathleen Menges at the Kariton Art Gallery

The Abbotsford Arts Council presents “Insight Out,” featuring works in cold wax and oil by Kathleen Menges. Taking place at the Kariton Art Gallery in Abbotsford, BC, the show includes abstract paintings created by local artist, Kathleen Menges using cold wax and working in an oil medium.

“Insight Out” reflects Menges’ focus on how intuition moves us in the creative process, allowing her to “tap into a subconscious level and express what comes.”

“I approach painting in a meditative fashion,” says Menges, “preparing myself to be open and receptive, hence the name of this show: ‘Insight Out.’” Within each painting is held a story to be revealed through countless layers of paint and wax.

A resident of Abbotsford, B.C., Kathleen Menges is a multiple disciplinary artist working mostly in abstract. She has a range of training in cold wax and oil, encaustics, mixed media, sculpting and Trompe-l’oeil, and her studies in spirituality are evident and an undercurrent in all of her paintings. Menges has exhibited in several solo and group exhibitions throughout B.C.’s Lower Mainland and holds regular art workshops in her studios in Abbotsford and Langley.

The show will run from May 31 to June 25 at the Kariton Art Gallery, located in Mill Lake Park at 2387 Ware Street. The gallery’s hours are Tuesday to Friday from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m., and Saturday to Sunday from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Menges will be present at an opening reception on Sunday, June 2, from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. For additional information, please contact the Abbotsford Arts Council by phone at (604) 852-9358, by email at abbotsfordartscouncil@gmail.com, or visit our website at abbotsfordartscouncil.org.
