It’s Time We Start Talking Openly About Mental Illness

From VGH Foundation. Tune your radio in to AM 980 – or join us live in the Diamond Family Courtyard – on Thursday, March 6, as we talk candidly about mental health and the stigma that so often keeps us from doing so. The show will feature people from our communities impacted by mental illness, and the experts who treat them.

With strong support from our donors, we’ve reached 85% of our goal, with only $3 million left to raise, to build a new mental health centre at VGH. And with more help from philanthropist, Joe Segal – who generously gave $12 million to kick the project off – we’re getting even closer. Joe is challenging listeners to raise $50,000 for a healing garden at the new mental health centre at VGH and he will be matching donations up to $100,000 for the month of March.

You can also join the conversation by sharing your story, or read the stories of others battling and overcoming their afflictions. Together we have the power to end the stigma and change the face of mental illness.
