Katie Powell On Transplants – Global Tuesday Morning

Katie Powell was on Global morning TV Tuesday morning to talk about her and her brother Mitch’s recovery from liver transplant surgery and their campaign to have people consider organ donation.

Katie was also interviewed for BCIT Magazine on Shaw TV about the operation and about her organ donation campaign.

Katie donated part of her liver to her brother Mitch last July. The two have been recovering well and now Katie has started a campaign on Twitter to encourage people to become organ donors.

Katie is best known to Abbotsford Today visitors for her Travelogues and her recent 1st Runner Up placement in the ‘On The Go Tours’ contest for a trip for two to Egypt.

The operation took place June 11 and Katie and Mitch, along with their parents, have shared the day-to-day experience of anticipating the surgery, preparing for, undergoing the operation and then their recovery on their Facebook page.

It was a gutsy thing to do and very important to their many friends who followed their amazing journey every day. Their journey continues. Recovery from transplant surgery is not usually quick and easy.
