Keep The Holiday Wreath Green Fire Safety Campaign

The Holiday Season is once again just around the corner and the Abbotsford Fire Rescue Service would like to remind everyone to take the time to be fire safe.
The Holiday Wreath at Fire Hall #1 (32270 George Ferguson Way) was lit again on December 1st. The wreath has 31 green lights representing the 31 days in December. The goal is to “Keep the Wreath Green” for the entire month of December. If a “Green” light is replaced with a “Red” light it will be due to a preventable residential fire occurring.
There will also be a sign board located at Hall #1 that will list the number of “Residential Fires”, the number of “Other Calls” and the “Total Number of Incidents”. This sign board will be updated every morning during December.
Residents can learn how to be fire safe during the holiday by visiting www.abbotsford.ca/fire to read fire safety tips.
One tip on how to remain safe this holiday season are to restrict the use of electrical extension cords, never leave cooking or candles unattended and check that your smoke alarms work properly.
