[excerpt] The unidentified man was spotted Tuesday evening by a passing motorist, who reported seeing him pick up an unidentified girl and carry her into the bushes.

Police determined the witness was credible and began a search of the area, which was expanded to include local search and rescue crews. It was called off at 3:30 a.m. PT without finding anyone.

Now police say numerous witnesses have reported seeing a man and a girl matching their descriptions in the hours before the report and they do not believe the incident was a stranger abduction.

Menawhile, the APD has posted a press release on their website stating:

At 6:20 pm tonight a motorist observed a young girl, wearing a pink jacket, lying on the side of the road near Enterprise Avenue and McCallum Road.

Near the girl was a Caucasian man in his 40’s with curly brown hair and wearing a dark jean jacket and jeans. The witness observed the man pick the girl up off the ground and carry her in the direction of a treed area just to the west of that location. The citizen contacted police because he was concerned that the child, believed to be between 6-10 years of age, didn’t appear to be moving.

Abbotsford Police Department officers have been searching the area since
receiving the report. No persons have been located. Central Fraser Valley

Search and Rescue are now joining the search. Our shared priority is to
