Man Carrying Girl Into Bushes Sought

CBC News is reportingthat a man was spotted carrying a girl into the bushes in Abbotsford last nightand the Abbotsford Police Department (APD) is asking for the man to come forward.

[excerpt] The unidentified man was spotted Tuesday evening by a passing motorist, who reported seeing him pick up an unidentified girl and carry her into the bushes.

Police determined the witness was credible and began a search of the area, which was expanded to include local search and rescue crews. It was called off at 3:30 a.m. PT without finding anyone.

Now police say numerous witnesses have reported seeing a man and a girl matching their descriptions in the hours before the report and they do not believe the incident was a stranger abduction.

Menawhile, the APD has posted a press release on their website stating:

At 6:20 pm tonight a motorist observed a young girl, wearing a pink jacket, lying on the side of the road near Enterprise Avenue and McCallum Road.

Near the girl was a Caucasian man in his 40’s with curly brown hair and wearing a dark jean jacket and jeans. The witness observed the man pick the girl up off the ground and carry her in the direction of a treed area just to the west of that location. The citizen contacted police because he was concerned that the child, believed to be between 6-10 years of age, didn’t appear to be moving.

Abbotsford Police Department officers have been searching the area since
receiving the report. No persons have been located. Central Fraser Valley
