101.7 CIVL congratulates first week Battle of the Bands winner, Merciful Angel . They will be facing off against two other playoff qualifiers at the end of June at UFV Abbotsford’s Aftermath.

This past weekend, local Abbotsford high school phenoms Yes Men Jr. shocked and awed the audience with their masked performance of psychedelic kraut-drone, disappointing the followers by finishing third behind runners up 7th Avenue, whose homegrown brand of good ol’ rock’n’roll coasted them into an easy 2nd place, just behind Week 1 champions, Abbotsford’s own Merciful Angel.

Every band still has a chance to make it into the playoff round through online fan voting after the first 6 rounds are completed.
This Saturday, week 2 will determine a finalist from Old Mare, Abbotsford’s alternative rock band, Casino playing garage rock from Abbotsford, and
alternative rockers Lonely Cave Kings from Langley.

Dates: Every Saturday, between May 11, 2013 – July 13, 2013
Times: Doors at 7pm, bands 7:30-9 pm
Location: UFV Aftermath, 33844 King Rd V2S 7M8, Abbotsford, B.C
