Michael Marchbank New Pres, CEO Of Fraser Health

Submitted. The Board of Fraser Health today confirmed the appointment of Michael Marchbank as President and Chief Executive Officer for Fraser Health.

In announcing the appointment to staff and physicians, Fraser Health’s new Board Chair, Karen Matty says Michael Marchbank is a seasoned and accomplished leader in BC’s health care system and comes highly recommended by health care workers, employers and government alike.

“I am gratified with the number of candidates that the Board reviewed and the interest that many people have to work at Fraser Health. Michael comes to Fraser Health with extensive health care experience throughout British Columbia and the Board and I are confident that he will be able to implement the new Strategic and Operational Plan, with the goal of improving patient outcomes and making our operations more sustainable.” said Karen Matty, Fraser Health Board Chair.

Michael will start his new role with Fraser Health on January 2, 2015.

“I am very excited to welcome such a highly respected and qualified candidate to Fraser Health. I am confident that Michael will build a cohesive leadership team. We have great momentum underway, and focus on achieving high quality health care and ensuring sustainability going forward. This is an exciting time for Fraser Health and having a leader like Michael on board will help keep us moving in the right direction. Michael is known as a skilled collaborator and is very pleased to join Fraser Health at this very important time.”

During the search for a new President and CEO to lead Fraser Health, Dr. David Ostrow, a respected leader in BC’s health care system, served as the Organization’s interim CEO. In addition, Wynne Powell served as the interim Board Chair with both appointments ending October 31, 2014.

“I would like to thank Dr. Ostrow and Mr. Powell for their exceptional leadership during this important time for Fraser Health,” said Health Minster Terry Lake. “They have assisted Fraser Health’s leaders in seeing a vision for the future that ensures we are delivering the best possible care for our patients, residents and clients. I am equally confident that Michael Marchbank will continue this vision.”

With new leadership at the Chief Executive level and the Board Chair level, and with the appointment last month of Karen Matty as Fraser Health’s new Board Chair, the Health Authority is beginning a new era to providing exceptional care for those it serves.
