Submitted. The Mission Arts Council is receiving $21,000 worth of funding thanks to a grant from the B.C. Arts Council announced Abbotsford-Mission MLA Simon Gibson.

“The value of creative talent cannot be underestimated,” said Gibson. “This support will help nurture local artists in Mission and the arts community as a whole.”

The funding comes from a record-high $24 million BC Arts Council received from the Government of British Columbia to support artists, arts activities and culture in 2014-15.

“Arts and culture are thriving in our province” said Community, Sport and Cultural Development Minister Coralee Oakes. “Council works well with B.C.’s talented artists and dedicated cultural organizations to ensure that the arts help make our communities shine as great places to live, work, invest and visit.”
