New Assistant Superintendent Announced

From Abbotsford School District. Current Assistant Superintendent Steve Carlton announced earlier this year that he will be retiring this December after more than 35 years of service in our school district. Following an extensive search and interview process, we are pleased to announce that Mr. Gino Bondi has been selected to replace Mr.Carlton as the new Assistant Superintendent, effective August 1, 2014. His first few months will be in a transition phase, working alongside Mr.Carlton.

Mr.Bondi comes to Abbotsford from the Vancouver School Board where he has most recently served as District Administrator for Specialty Programs, a position that requires leadership of that district’s extensive network of specialized programs (French Immersion, International Baccalaureate, Mandarin Bilingual, Montessori, Secondary District Programs, Mini-Schools and Academies). Mr.Bondi has also held responsibilities for Adult Education, Career Programs, Continuing Education, District Band/Strings, and District Athletics at VSB. Prior to this current position, Mr.Bondi served in leadership roles at John Oliver, Vancouver Technical, and JN Burnett Secondary Schools in Vancouver and Richmond School Districts.

He is deeply committed to collaboration, and has demonstrated a steadfast commitment to transforming the delivery of education in light of the new BC Curriculum. He has provided commendable district level leadership at VSB in the areas of project-based learning, assessment and digital learning.

We are pleased to welcome Gino Bondi to the Abbotsford School District.
