Global Spectrum, operators of the Abbotsford Entertainment and Sports Centre, expects the arena’s one millionth fan to enter the building during the upcoming sold-out Carrie Underwood concert scheduled for Thursday, May 23.

“Since the facility first opened in 2009, the Abbotsford Entertainment and Sports Centre has continued to attract high caliber entertainment for the people of Abbotsford and the Fraser Valley” said City of Abbotsford Mayor Bruce Banman. “Had you asked me five years ago about the possibility of Carrie Underwood performing in our City, I wouldn’t have believed it. Now here she is right here in our own backyard, helping us to celebrate this milestone. I can hardly wait to see what the next four years bring!”

After opening its doors on May 7, 2009, the Abbotsford Entertainment and Sports Centre, managed by Global Spectrum, has hosted events including Cirque du Soleil, John Fogerty, KISS, Maroon 5, Eric Church, Alan Jackson, Carrie Underwood, Disney on Ice, the Harlem Globetrotters, and much more. The Abbotsford Entertainment and Sports Centre is also home to the American Hockey League’s Abbotsford Heat who recently confirmed that they will be returning for the 2013-14 season.

“Having the millionth ticket enter the doors of the Abbotsford Entertainment and Sports Centre only four years after opening its doors really shows that the community is proud and supportive of this facility” said Global Spectrum’s Jason Blumenfeld, General Manager of the Abbotsford Entertainment and Sports Centre. “We’ll continue to try and surprise Abbotsford residents with new, entertaining events that are right here in our city.”

The millionth fan will be honoured with a prize package including a pair of tickets to a future AESC event as well as dinner for two courtesy of Ovations Food Services, an Abbotsford Heat flex ticket package for the 2013-14 season, a $100 gift card to be used at Sevenoaks Shopping Centre, a Sleeman Breweries prize package, a gift basket from Andrew Peller Limited, and a $50 gift certificate at Greek Islands Restaurant.
