As people around the lower mainland wait for the arrival of spring on the Canadian West Coast, the Fraser Valley Yard, Garden & Renovation Show is plowing ahead with last minute details for their 11th annual trade show at Chilliwack Heritage Park. This year’s show will see the return of the Big Red Barn Burner BBQ Competition after a highly successful launch in 2012 and, new for 2013, a VIP Tailgate Party.
“From patio planters to acres of gardens or vegetable patches, the arrival of spring is a welcome site. Our Yard, Garden and Renovation Show provides visitors ideas and inspiration for their outdoor spaces,” declared Gary Moran, show producer and owner of Fantasy Farms Inc. Boasting 60,000 square feet of trade show space, the Fraser Valley Yard, Garden & Renovation Show brings together the best in gardening, outdoor décor, lighting and furniture, landscaping, patio design, fencing and much more. “The show really provides visitors an opportunity to speak with some of the best suppliers – all under one roof,” says Moran.
Adding to the lineup of garden centres and nurseries, this year’s show will include Minter Country Gardens as well as horticulture expert and gardening icon, Brian Minter. “Brian will be on center stage daily to share his extensive knowledge of plants, from shrubs to vegetables, he is a tremendous resource for both budding and seasoned gardeners,” says Moran. Minter Country Gardens will be introducing Incredible Edibles for your garden, deck or patio. Brian Minter will also host Let’s Get Dirty, and Plant Something, featuring new plant varieties for 2013.
What is outdoor living without a little outdoor cooking? Living in a part of the country where you can BBQ year-round, the second annual Big Red Barn Burner BBQ Competition, presented by Well Seasoned Gourmet Foods, is set to return to this year’s event and bringing with it, the first annual Tailgate Party. “Who doesn’t love a little BBQ?” asks Moran. “We are delighted to have the Big Red Barn Burner BBQ Competition and now Tailgate Party here this year; the BBQ event adds something extra for our visitors.” A VIP evening hosted by Tourism Chilliwack and Fantasy Farms Inc., the evening will be filled with some of the best barbequed pulled pork around. Tickets to the Tailgate Party are limited and are available through Tourism Chilliwack or Fantasty Farms Inc.
For those familiar with the show, family friendly events continue this year with the Family Fun Zone sponsored by Fantasy Farms Inc. and Meadow Lands Horticulture as well as an interactive display from the Greater Vancouver Zoo.
