Orioles Battle Mariners

By April 14, 2014Sports, Sports News

From the Abbotsford Angels Hardball Association. The Orioles took on the Mariners in Mosquito action on a beautiful night at Lions Park. The O’s got some great pitching from their “1st years” as Logan Clark, Jake Davenport, Jimmy Boulanger, Jarek Sloboda and Hunter Macleod were all very effective on the mound.

The O’s bats were also strong, especially early on, building up a big lead for Dakota Janzen to shut the door on the M’s in the 6th and final inning. Jarek’s gutsy pitching effort earned him Player of the Game honours.

A highlight of the game came off a big hit from the M’s Levi Kropp to deep CF. As the coaches called him on to try for third, a fantastic relay from Jake Davenport to Ronan Sexton to Dakota Janzen ended in a tag to deny the triple. The Mariners battled hard all evening in their first game of the season and will be that much more dangerous for their next opponent with a game under their belts.
