Patrick Marini Charged After Incident At Clearbrook Library

On the morning of Tuesday, June 25, between 9:45 am and 10:45 am, a 12 year old boy was approached by a man inside the Clearbrook library located at 32320 George Ferguson Way. The man allegedly attempted to convince the boy to leave the library with him. The boy wisely refused and informed his parents about the incident. The Abbotsford Police Department was contacted the following day and quickly identified the man as 71 year old Patrick Marini of Abbotsford.

The APD secured charges of Attempt Kidnapping and Abduction of Person under 14 against Patrick Marini. This resulted in his surrender to police yesterday afternoon at 4:15 pm.

Marini was previously convicted of Sexual Assault in relation to a 2012 incident. He is under a Conditional Sentence Order and a Probation Order as a result of that conviction. Both orders stipulate that Marini is not to have contact with any person aged 16 or under.

APD Major Crime detectives wish to speak with anyone who may have witnessed the incident on Tuesday. In addition, we want to speak with anyone aged 16 or under he may have contacted.

Patrick Marini is 5’4” tall and weighs 130 pounds. He has grey hair and brown eyes.
