Pilots Face Kodiaks

As the Abbotsford Pilots and Aldergrove Kodiaks prepare to face one another in their upcoming PJHL playoff series here are ten random notes posted on Facebook about the series on the Pacific Junior Hockey League Forum.

Ten Random Notes regarding the upcoming series between the Abbotsford Pilots and the Aldergrove Kodiaks . . .

1 – The Pilots finished nine points ahead in the standings, but both teams had amazing 18-4-0 records in the second half of the season.

2 – Pilots goalie Aaron Oakley had a sparkling 1.50 GAA and .913 Save Percentage in the Conference Semi-Finals.

3 – The Kodiaks Scott McHaffie leads the ‘Pac’ in playoff scoring with twelve points (3G,9A) in five games.

4 – Thirteen different players scored goals for the Pilots in their first round sweep of the Outlaws, including five defencemen.

5 – Stefan Gonzales, voted the PJHL’s top D-Man, played only two games in the first round due to injury.

6 – Abby’s Brett Kolins leads all defencemen in playoff scoring with six points (3G,3A) in four games.

7 – The Kodiaks won 18 of their final 22 games. A massive improvement over their first half total of 10 wins.

8 – Kodiaks goalie Mark Menicucci was outstanding in the first round, posting a 1.93 GAA and .928 Save Percentage.

9 – Abbotsford’s Brad Parker will miss the first game of the series while serving a suspension.

10 – The Pilots won the season series 4-2, but the last
meeting was more of an exhibition as the Kodiaks chose to dress eight affiliated players.
