Rempel Named to Tournament 12 Showcase

From AAHA. Congratulations to Abbotsford Angels alumnus Tanner Rempel, who was named to the Tournament 12 Showcase, a project sponsored by the Toronto Blue Jays which brings together the best baseball prospects in Canada. Tanner currently plays for the Abbotsford Cardinals, and has a brother playing for the Angels in Peewee AA.

The Blue Jays Baseball Academy, in collaboration with Hall of Famer Roberto Alomar will host the second annual Tournament 12 showcase baseball tournament at Rogers Centre, September 16-20. Tournament 12 will highlight the best Canadian amateur players with college eligibility. Eight teams will represent the Canadian provinces. Baseball Scouts and recruiters are encouraged to attend this event with the benefits of preferred seating along with a tournament scouting guide.

All players will be selected by the Blue Jays Baseball Academy with the assistance of the Blue Jays Scouting Department, Baseball Canada, and the Major League Baseball Scouting Bureau. All tournament games will be umpired by members of the Baseball Canada High Performance program for Canadian umpires.

The first ten roster spots for each team have been. Seven additional roster spots per team will be named on Friday, August 15, with the final tournament rosters being declared on Friday, August 29.

Eligible players will be evaluated throughout the 2014 season at MLB Scouting Bureau Tryouts, Major Tournaments, the Canada Cup, and Provincial Roster Selection Camps. There will also be a series of Invitational Final Evaluation Camps in July and August.
