Abbotsford Police have arrested a man suspected of committing four business robberies in a 10-day period.

Earlier today, Abbotsford Police Major Crime investigators with the assistance of the RCMP Emergency Response Team (ERT) arrested a man in the 30800 block of Peardonville Rd. The arrest follows an investigation into three separate robberies in Abbotsford and one that occurred in Chilliwack last month. All four robberies involved the use of a handgun. No one was injured.

Abbotsford Robberies:

1. Whatcom Wine and Spirits store (May 26th)
2. Bank of Montreal (June 1st)
3. Mt. Lehman Liquor store (June 3rd)

Chilliwack Robbery:

1. Shell Gas Station – Vedder Road (May 24th)

“This investigation was a priority for us and the arrest is a result of a collaborative effort between our office and the Chilliwack RCMP,” said Sgt. Casey Vinet. “Robberies such as these tend to occur in sprees so we are very happy that we were able to identify and get this guy into custody before any more businesses could be impacted.”

The 38-year-old Chilliwack resident, who is known to police, is expected to appear in Abbotsford Provincial Court or before a Judicial Justice of the Peace later today or tomorrow morning.
