Sisters in Soccer In-Club Program.
Saturday 11th January, 2014 was an historical day for soccer in Abbotsford, if not BC, as it relates to the advancement of Female Coaching Development.
Sisters in Soccer; a specific, in-club program of mentorship, advancement and promotion of female soccer, launched its newest initiative – Coaching Sisters – 20/20 Vision.
The premise of this initiative Coaching Sisters – 20/20 Vision is to identify, recruit, support and engage a group of interested females and assist them to gain a Provincial B Soccer Coaching qualification, by the year 2020.
This past Saturday, 16 female recruits helped to launch the Coaching Sisters – 20/20 Vision initiative by successfully attending the BC Soccer “Active Start” course (please see attached photo).

Magnuson Ford Mariners FC Technical Director – Ian Knight stated “When considering the various ways in which we can help grow the interests of females in the game of soccer, it just made sense to engage with our members for this coaching initiative. While the goal of achieving Provincial B licensing may seem a ‘lofty’ one, I believe the group of females that have committed to this program will be determined to achieve the same.
With attendee representation from across a wide spectrum of our club’s programming, be it players from Youth or Senior team programming, parents from our grassroots programs or team managers and soccer moms, it is an exciting mix of enthusiastic and supportive women, who will all be magnificent role models for years to come….we are very proud of their commitment.
The next clinic for the ‘Coaching Sisters’ will be in February when they tackle Stage 2: “Fundamentals”.
