Snow White The Panto! Fun, Fanciful and Ridiculously Silly

Opening Nite Theatre (ONTS) is excited to be bringing it’s 7th annual Pantomime to the stage. Snow White, The Panto!, is a farce-of-a-fairytale written & directed by local actor & playwright Camille Atebe.

When Snow White (the talented Miss Kaitlin Holtby) comes home from college to find that her father has remarried, at first she’s thrilled. But her new stepmother Griselda has a skulking minion and a magic mirror & some dark ties to the evil Fairy Naughty. Before long Snow White is fighting for her life. But even with the help of seven sarcastic lepers (yes, lepers) and all the cosmic good of Fairy Nice on her side… can Snow White hope to prevail? Will she find her Prince?

Lover’s of ONTS Panto’s past will be excited to see familiar faces with the incomparable Jennie Bice as Fairy Nice, local songstress Susan Dearing as Fairy Naughty, the Grand Dame ‘himself’ Gerwyn Mills as the evil Queen Griselda and ONTS alum Tony Loyer bringing a sarcastic spin to The Magic Mirror. One new twist for the audience is live music. “We have an amazing group of talented musicians in the cast & it gives us more opportunities to interact with the audience,” explains Atebe (who also plays the role of the Queen’s misunderstood minion)

With the classic elements of traditional pantomime mixed with seven years of local tradition, Opening Night Theatre’s version of Snow White is fun, fanciful & ridiculously silly, “I think this may be the best Panto yet… and that’s saying a lot!” says Producer Shannon Pedder. Also, as an extra way to give back to the community, ONTS is taking the opportunity to collect nonperishable items for the local Food Bank/Christmas Bureau at each performance.

This zany, family friendly musical runs weekends (Fri-Sun) December 13-15, 2013 (break for Christmas) and then January 3-12, 2014. Fridays @ 8pm, Saturdays @ 2pm & 8pm and Sundays @ 2pm. Tickets are $15 for adults, $10 for children/students or $40 for a Family of 4. As usual there is no charge for children under 6 who wish to sit on a parents lap (or in front of the stage).
