The annual Abbotsford School District Spaghetti Bridge Contest will be held this Friday at the Arts Addition at Abbotsford Arts Centre.

EVENT: 8th Annual Abbotsford School District Spaghetti Bridge Contest
WHEN: Friday, January 31 (see schedule below.)
WHERE: Arts Addition at Abbotsford Arts Centre, 2329 Crescent Way, Abbotsford
WHAT: Sponsored by the Old Spaghetti Factory, this annual contest involves teams of 3 or 4 students designing and building a bridge made of spaghetti sticks and glue. Once completed a ‘weigh-off’ is held, where each bridge has weights added and timed for a minute to see if they can withstand the weights. 15 teams have been entered, with approximately 60 students.

8:30 am Students Arrive at Abby Arts Addition – Registration
8:45 Welcome: Patti Tebbutt, District Principal of Career Programs
8:50 Special Guest Presentation: Careers in Engineering, Building & Design – Tom Louie, Director, Facilities, Abbotsford School District
9:05 Bridge Design Submission (Teams required to submit a sketch of their bridge design.)
9:10 Contest Rules & Safety Warning
9:15 Bridge Building Contest Starts
12:00 pm Contest ends
12:15 Spaghetti Lunch provided by the Old Spaghetti Factory
