Stephen O’Shea is known for many things in Abbotsford from his membership in iconic Abbotsford band You Say Party to his role as organizer of the annual weekly summer music festival Jam in Jubilee.

Residents are now going to get to know him in his role as the Green Party’s candidate for Abbotsford West. O’Shea says his involvement with his community has been the strongest force pushing him towards his candidacy for the Green Party.

Profile From The Green Party:
Stephen has travelled the world as a musical performer and as a volunteer for Katimavik and Canada World Youth, but there’s no other place that he cares for as much as Abbotsford. His life demonstrates a single-minded passion for the strength of this community.

For the past five years, Stephen has been a supportive care worker for adults with developmental disabilities, and his job has invested him with great patience, interpersonal sensitivity, and a deeper desire for a civic culture that is inclusive and supportive. When Stephen is not working, he is busy as a volunteer, directing most of his energy to promoting cultural events like all-ages shows for youth in need of inspiration and creative expression.

He is a key organizer for the Jam in Jubilee Festival, which provides family-friendly entertainment in downtown Abbotsford during the summer months. Stephen also serves on the Board of the Devon Clifford Memorial Foundation, which provides musical education opportunities for at-risk youth and is a volunteer programmer for CIVL, the student-run radio station of the University of the Fraser Valley. He always seeks opportunities to encourage a rich local culture and a spirit of civic responsibility in his friends and neighbours.

All of Stephen’s experiences have led him to see his personal mission more clearly: Stephen wants to lead diverse people to work cooperatively for positive, local, and concrete outcomes. He believes that the Green Party provides the best possible platform for expressing this ethic of responsibility and love for his local community.
