The Goddess Movement: Musings Of A Goddess – Beauty, Pursued

By Aryn Savard. There something innate in us as women. Something we were born with, the desire to feel beautiful. For most of us, we feel most beautiful when we are pursued by someone else. It may be a man, it may be a friend, it may be a child pulling at our shirt to tell us we look ‘pretty.’ One thing I have come to understand is that it doesn’t have to take another person to make me feel beautiful.

I can pursue the beauty inside myself.

As women, we feel validated when we feel beautiful- as made evident by the multi-billion dollar cosmetic and fashion industries. But instead of buying into their campaign of what makes you beautiful…..START YOUR OWN CAMPAIGN.

Make 5 minutes for yourself to sit down and write out the top 5 things or moments in which you felt beautiful. Think outside the box, maybe it was sitting in the sunshine, maybe it was a particular way you did your hair, maybe it was moving to a song, eating a certain food, wearing a pair of shoes.

Now pursue yourself and make some of these things happen on a daily basis. A few weeks ago I was running around like a chicken with my head cut off, hardly time to shower, legs were not shaved, no make up, hair piled up on top of my head, wearing boring workout gear everywhere. I stopped to breathe for a moment and said to myself, “I feel yucky.” So instead of wallowing in the yuck, I made time the next day to shave my legs, blow dry my hair, put in one of my favorite hair flowers and wear my latest amazing pair of high heels around the house that I am totally in love with. In short, I made a date with myself. It only took an hour and 30 minutes to do all of this and I felt amazing for the rest of the day. I was a bundle of happiness and confidence for my family, friends, and clients. I didn’t need a man to tell me I looked beautiful, I didn’t need an Estee Lauder add to tell me that I was beautiful because I was wearing their cosmetics. I made time for myself to enjoy the things I love and that alone made me feel beautiful being ME.

Pursue yourself, date yourself, fall in love with yourself.
