Traditional Schools Plan For Growth

The Abbotsford School District’s traditional schools are looking to enhance the traditional learning experience and encourage the transition of students from traditional elementary through traditional secondary school.

The district’s Traditional Advisory Committee
(‘TAC’), made up of representatives from
the five traditional schools, works to assist
in the long term planning of traditional
schools and to create consistency across
the schools for continued excellence in
learning. Michael Hendricks, Vice
Principal at Abbotsford Traditional Middle
Secondary and Chair of the Traditional
Advisory Council, reported on some tradi-
tional schools’ enrolment and transition
data, then outlined key strategies and work
for the coming year, including: continued
work to strengthen identity; the enhance-
ment of transitions at all three levels of
school; outreach and connection to other
traditional schools in the Fraser Valley
with an eye to potentially hosting a tradi-
tional schools conference, and a review of
the online/telephone waitlist systems now
in place.
