From Abbotsford Magnuson Ford Soccer Club. Two Abbotsford Teams, The U13 Storm and the U13 Prospects battled for the U13 Boys FVYSA District Cup rights on March 12th at Abby Senior Turf. A hard fought and entertaining match saw the game tied 0-0 at half. The Abbotsford U13 Prospects, playing a year ‘up’, gave their older clubmates all they could handle, at times outplaying the older squad. Both teams had quality chances in the first half, though neither team could score. The Prospects had a goal disallowed due to being offside.

The Storm took over the game in the 2nd half, scoring a goal early in the half. Both teams demonstrated outstanding passing and positional play but slowly the scales turned in favour of the Storm. A second Storm goal early in the half challenged the Prospects but they never gave up. Another offside call kept the Prospects off the scoresheet but Kevin Wiens gave the younger squad high praise for their work ethic and tenacity. A 4 – 0 final wasn’t reflective of the quality and competitive nature of the match but did provide players and fans with a most entertaining game.
