By February 27, 2014Crime

Submitted. Last night at 8:45 pm the Abbotsford Police Department was contacted by the US Border Patrol about border runners heading north in the area of 39000 block of Old Yale Road. Abbotsford Police Department Patrol Division officers and a K9 unit immediately moved into the area. They were quickly assisted by the Air 1 police helicopter and Integrated Road Safety Unit (IRSU) officers who were working in Abbotsford.

The extremely effective communication between Canadian and American law enforcement on the ground and in the air resulted in the capture of two suspects in rural, south-east Abbotsford. These 23 and 49 year old men will be held by APD for Canadian Immigration officials. The US Border Patrol located backpacks on their side of the border containing approximately 20 kilograms of suspected methamphetamine.

The Abbotsford Police Department would like to thank all of those who contributed to the arrest of these two men and the coordinated efforts to protect the citizens on both sides of the border.
