Submitted. This morning at 11:35 am, the Abbotsford Police Department received multiple calls concerning a residence in the 33200 block of East Bourquin Crescent. Residents in this complex and surrounding area reported possible shots fired. The APD also received a call indicating that a 23 year old man had barricaded himself inside a room in a suite in the complex.

Abbotsford Police Department Patrol Division, Emergency Response Team, Traffic, Youth Squad, Major Crime Unit and all other available resources arrived in the area and began creating a perimeter and evacuating residents. Abbotsford Fire Rescue and BC Ambulance staff assisted at a command post created near the scene and the Air 1 police helicopter provided assistance in the air. Despite the large police presence, the suspect refused to comply with police commands and remained inside with firearms and ammunition.
