Valley Sports: NLL Champions Cup At LEC Saturday

Submitted. The National Lacrosse League is coming back to the Langley Events Centre. The LEC, which has hosted pre season games the past two seasons, will host the NLL Champions Cup, presented by Reebok, this Saturday, May 11 at 4:00PM PST. The game will feature the West division champion Washington Stealth who will be looking to unseat the defending NLL Champions, the Rochester Knighthawks.

“This game is the ‘Super Bowl’ of professional box lacrosse and we are extremely excited to be working with the home team, the Washington Stealth and the National Lacrosse League to put on an event that the entire BC lacrosse community, the NLL and the Township of Langley can get excited about,” noted LEC Director of Business Development Jared Harman.

The Stealth are familiar with the Langley Events Centre having played in the 2011 pre season game and having hosted their training camp there this past season,

“The Langley Events Centre is one of the Pacific Northwest’s premier facilities and has hosted NLL exhibition games during the past two seasons,” Stealth President, David Takata said. “Getting the fans this close to the action for a championship game will be special. The mid-afternoon game time will help our fans make the trip to Langley and back in one exciting day.”

George Daniel, Commissioner of the National Lacrosse League is excited to be coming back to the Lower Mainland and the LEC for the league’s feature game,

“We are excited to bring the NLL Championship game to the great lacrosse fans of British Columbia.”

The game will feature some of the brightest stars in the sport of lacrosse, including Lewis Ratcliff (Washington Stealth), Rhys Duch (Washington Stealth), Mike Grimes (Washington Stealth), Tyler Richards (Washington Stealth), Athan Iannucci (Washington Stealth), Dan Dawson (Rochester Knighthawks), Joel McCready (Rochester Knighthawks), Cody Jamieson (Rochester Knighthawks), Johnny Powless (Rochester Knighthawks), Matt Vinc (Rochester Knighthawks and NLL Goaltender of the Year) and more.
