Submitted. The City of Abbotsford received a report of a possible watermain break on Matsqui Place this morning. On arrival, City crews began shutting down the watermain as significant flooding had occurred at the property located beside the broken watermain.
The watermain is located at the driveway to the PetroCan commercial cardlock and is subject to heavy truck traffic. As this is one of the City’s newer watermains and is not scheduled for replacement until 2021 a sample of the pipe will need to be taken for testing if the cause of the break is not easily identifiable. Once a cause for the break is known, the City of Abbotsford will re-evaluate this main for replacement.
