Envision Financial celebrates Canada 150 by donating $22,500 to local charities and non-profits

Submitted. Envision Financial, a division of First West Credit Union, will celebrate Canada’s 150th anniversary with Simple Generosity, an innovative 12-month program that applauds community volunteerism and supports local charities and non-profits.

Every week throughout 2017, an individual or team who has demonstrated exceptional dedication to community through their volunteer efforts will be selected from the regions in which First West operates. Those selected can then donate $1,500, courtesy of First West, to the charity or non-profit organization of their choosing.

“A focus of ours at Envision Financial is on strengthening our communities through volunteer engagement and leadership,” says David Lanphear, president at Envision Financial. “It’s for this reason we’re recognizing British Columbians for their positive contributions during this milestone year in Canada, and empowering them to make an even greater impact through a $1,500 charitable donation. This year, fifteen volunteers from neighbourhoods in the Fraser Valley, Lower Mainland and Kitimat will receive the recognition, which means we’ll be donating $22,500 to organizations in our own backyard.”

Envision Financial has selected the first recipient, Paul Belhumeur, who, together with his colleagues from Re/Max 2000 Realty, are donating the $1,500 award from First West to the Surrey Food Bank. Every other month since 2013, Paul and his team have taken a full day from their busy schedule to sort food and serve clients at the food bank. Contributing roughly 240 hours every year, this energetic group are now regular and welcomed faces at the food bank.
