Rob Ford is a perfect example of why we should never address local mayors as “your worship”. Worship belongs exclusively to the Lord God. When we place these fawning titles on mortals with feet of clay, two things happen…….we exalt someone not worthy of our worship, thereby diminishing our own worth, while the inferior object of our flattery starts to really believe himself worthy of our worship.
So why should this exalted ‘god’ or demi-god now stoop to listen to mere mortals? We create our own monsters.
“You shall worship the Lord your God, and him only shall you serve.”
