From SD#34. There were some top results by students from secondary schools in Abbotsford School District at the SkillsBC provincial competitions, held at Tradex on April 15. In total, Abbotsford students brought home 14 medals: 6 Gold, 3 Silver, and 5 Bronze. The six gold medalists will be invited to join TEAM BC and compete at National Skills in Saskatoon in June.

· Architectural/CAD: Alex Hintz – Abbotsford Sr. Secondary

· 2D Animation: Sage Auterson, Brittany Sukorokoff – Rick Hansen Secondary
· Electrical: Aaron Coates – WJ Mouat Secondary
Bronze Medals:
· Arch/CAD: Trevyn Krull – Rick Hansen Secondary
· Hairstyling: Hannah deBruin – Rick Hansen Secondary
· Jr. Skills – GearBots Competition – Mitchell Dombrowski, Gavin Shepherd, Liam Pasiciel – Robert Bateman Secondary.
In addition, approximately 1,550 grade 10 students from Abbotsford School District visited the SkillsBC day to learn about possible careers in the trades and technology areas, participate in a variety of try-a-trade activities, and to cheer on their classmates.
